How to Apply for the 2025 Academic Year

Available Programs and Admission Requirements

Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery (GNR174)
This four-year program offers practical experience in hospitals and clinical facilities. Admission requirements include:

  • English (First Additional Language) – Code 4
  • Home Language – Code 4
  • Mathematics – Code 4 or Mathematical Literacy – Code 5
  • Life Science or Physical Science – Code 4
  • Minimum APS score: 27

This program is available at the Metro Campus in Athlone.

Diploma in Nursing (GNR171)
A three-year program leading to registration as a General Nurse. Admission requirements include:

  • English (First Additional Language) – Code 4
  • Home Language – Code 4
  • Mathematics – Code 3 or Mathematical Literacy – Code 4
  • Life Science or Physical Science – Code 4
  • Minimum APS score: 24

Available at Metro Campus (Athlone), Boland/Overberg Campus (Worcester), and South Cape Karoo Campus (George).

Higher Certificate in Nursing (GCNR169)
A one-year program preparing students for nursing care in all healthcare settings. Admission requirements include:

  • Home Language or First Additional Language – Grade 3
  • Life Sciences – Grade 3
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy – Grade 2
  • Minimum total score: 24

Available at Metro Campus (Worcester), Boland/Overberg Campus (Caledon), and South Cape Karoo Campus (George).
